Our Fabrics

FABRICS
COTTON
SIR. utilises responsibly sourced cotton and cotton blends for several ready-to-wear cotton stories. Our cotton is sourced in line with Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act which requires traceability from cotton grower to fabric mill and manufacturer.
WOOL
A portion of our seasonal knitwear is crafted with natural wool.
Our wool is sourced through UPW, who are celebrated for their commitment to both animal and environmental protection and are RWS accredited. The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) is an industry tool that provides benchmarks that address animal welfare and land preservation in the shepherd industry.
Through auditing the supply chain from farm to finished garment, RWS ensures transparency of all tiers of supply is achieved.
LINEN
Linen has been at the core of SIR. collections since inception. As a durable, long-lasting natural fibre that biodegrades, linen continues to be a staple in our collections for its wearability and low impact on our planet.
RAMIE
Sourced from the fibre of the Ramie plant, Ramie is a natural fabric that is biodegradable, requires little irrigation and minimal use of chemical pesticides for growth.
MADE TO MEASURE
Our signature SIR. knit pieces are constructed using fully fashioned techniques. This innovative technique means that our garments are knitted to shape then linked at the seams to achieve minimal to no yarn is wasted in the manufacturing of these garments.
RECYCLED POLYESTER
Crafted in Italy by leading conscious textile innovators, the recycled polyester fabrications used throughout SIR. collections are composed of post-consumer polyester fibres and waste.
Repurposed polyester fibres eliminate the need to produce virgin polyester, a process that has negative implications on the environment, and supports a circular system for the garment and fashion industry.
LYOCELL
Originating from wood sources, Lyocell is crafted through the use of non-toxic chemical dissolvents to create wood pulp, which is then spun into fibres. The chemical use in the process makes Lyocell a semi-synthetic fibre, however its natural derivatives ensure the material remains both biodegradable and compostable. The manufacturing process of Lyocell is a relatively short, and simple process, which minimally impacts the environment leaving almost no trace of pollutive waste. As a wood cellulose based material, Lyocell can be sourced from a variety of fast growing sources such as eucalyptus trees and bamboo, making it an environmentally friendlier alternative for our material choices.
