Our Reflexión campaign came to life in the desert just outside of Palm Springs – stepping into a mirage and looking to the natural world that inspired the collection to set the scene. Elly McGaw, a New York based stylist and collaborator of SIR. styled the campaign with the concept of Reflexión front of mind.
We speak to Elly about her favourite moments on set and her tips for choosing the right accessories to complete a look.
We loved working with you to bring our vision for Reflexión to life. What was your favourite moment on set?
It was such a good day. It’s rare you get to work with a team of strong self made women who love what they do. The SIR. team brings all the good vibes and creativity. Feels like a big family, it was all a dream, but the full moon rising over the desert on wrap was truly very special!
Can you talk us through how you concept for a shoot?
I start by looking over the collection and drawing inspiration from the designers and their process in creating it. In this case the girls had a really strong concept built around reflection, which is why I chose to use gold shoe accessories for this. They also wanted it to feel really colourful which perfectly complements the collection. I like to make the styling feel a combination of editorial and wearable, I love working with the girls as they are always really keen to push the styling play.
What is your favourite part of styling a campaign?
I love shoot days, dreaming up ideas with a team and watching them come to life is so fulfilling . Location shoots are always my favourite as there are so many elements, light and texture, you never really know what you are going to get but when you have the right ingredients the magic will happen. You always finish the day feeling like a family with beautiful work to mark those memories.
Who is your dream collaborator?
Oh, I have always wanted to work with Zoe Ghertner.
Accessories can lift a look – what are your tips for selecting complimenting accessories without going OTT.
I think it is always a combo of give a little, and take a little. There are a lot of elements to consider when styling, I tend to always go with “less is more, and add a touch of wow“.
In your opinion, what is the ‘it’ accessory to have this season?
I love silver cuffs / bracelets – they can make a simple dress go from day to night.
Resort ‘24 incorporated some bold prints – any tips for styling prints?
The SIR. prints are in a league of their own, the girls always make the most beautiful and unique prints. I am not a big clasher of prints, I like them soft and subtle, letting them speak for themselves by adding silver or gold in accessories to bring it all together.
What is your favourite look from our Resort ‘24 campaign. What do you love most about it?
There are too many to decide. I love the Atacama Bodice and headband with crochet shoes on the rock – I think it is a beautiful play on crochet. I also love the last photo we took at sundown, she is in the Aries Slip Mini Dress with pink gloves. The sun was setting under the full moon and the photo turned out so beautiful!
Your top picks from Resort ‘24 and how you’re wearing them?
Everything! It is all so wearable. I’m obsessed with the new Aries dresses, they are so chic. I also love the Atacama one should dress – it’s perfect for summer.
