Senior Patternmaker

Offices are located in Rosebery, Sydney with the team consisting of cofounders/creative directors (Nikki Campbell & Sophie Coote) and teams in online, design, wholesale, retail, and logistics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Patternmaker to join our team. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of our block library and driving consistency across garment fit for our seasonal collections. You will work closely with the Senior Designer and the Development team to ensure the highest quality standards are met.




  • Create patterns for seasonal collections in StyleCAD or Clo systems via product sketches, samples, or from an existing library of blocks and patterns.
  • Assist in the development of the block library, ensuring consistency across garment fits.
  • Develop styles that are considerate of yield and price point without compromising design.
  • Log an accurate history of all garment alterations and comments within associated tech packs.
  • Perform pattern alterations at all stages of development and production as necessary.
  • Finalize all patterns in line with design and development critical path timelines.
  • Create costing markers and record accurate yields as required.
  • Participate in fittings and maintain notes on all alterations with support from the design/development team.
  • Work with external sample machinists to achieve the best quality make and most cost-effective method of garment construction when required.
  • Ensure all patterns passed for grading are complete and correct.
  • Produce sample markers for cutting as required.
  • QC samples first for all sampling stages ensuring vendors have followed pattern and make guidelines.
  • Review graded nests as required.
  • Oversee external services, such as digitizing, cut, or make.
  • Assist with sample cutting if required.




  • At least 10 years of industry experience in patternmaking.
  • Digital patternmaking experience, Clo or StyleCAD preferred.
  • Degree in Design or equivalent.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fit and construction across all categories, including knitwear.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience in a similar role within a design-led brand.
  • Ability to foresee trends and align them with the SIR brand identity.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experimental mindset, open to trying new ways of doing things.
  • High confidence to work autonomously.
  • Collaborative style, with the ability to develop solid relationships with vendors and within the business.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilient work practices.
