Freelance Textile Designer


SIR. is an Australian privately-owned company which designs and manufactures high-end women’s fashion. Clothing is globally distributed through its online platform ( along with a number of leading international wholesalers. Offices are located in Rosebery, Sydney with the team consisting of cofounders/creative directors (Nikki Campbell & Sophie Coote) an online, design, wholesale, retail and logistic teams.

SIR. has garnered international acclaim for its singular aesthetic centred on sustainable basics and distinct, minimalist yet feminine silhouettes. Neutral tones and delicate fabrics form the foundation of the SIR offering, punctuated by thoughtful feminine details designed to complement the body.

We are looking for an innovative freelance print designer who can develop original and existing artworks, both digitally and by hand. You will understand the SIR textile aesthetic, be well versed with engineering print placements, and bring original concepts to the design team. You will work closely with the Senior Designer on a freelance basis to successfully meet your KPI’s. 



  • Work closely with the design team to create both original and existing artworks each season across multiple fabric bases and categories. 
  • Provide colour and placement mock ups of artwork on both technical sketches and existing photographed garments.
  • Liaise with factories on all textile developments including generation of specs, pantone colour information and strike off approvals.
  • Engineer placement prints for both sampling and production development across wovens and swim categories.
  • Research print and colour trends to contribute to seasonal design brief.



  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Textile Designer role with a background tertiary qualification in textile design or graphic design.
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Suite.
  • Strong hand painting, illustration, or design skills for creating original artworks and editing vintage artworks.
  • Experience with engineering placement prints on garment patterns with a basic level of garment construction.
  • Understanding of SIR signature textile style.
  • Familiarity with current fashion trends including colour compositions.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Creative problem solving.
